	i had the pleasure of interning at NBCUniversal in the summer of 2023, specifically working in the SYFY and Oxygen design department. there i designed exciting projects including social posts and logos. 

the team would have a list of important national days to celebrate and i would find creative solutions to incorporate the special day into our upcoming marathons that would be airing on SYFY that week. when working on social media at SYFY, i wrote unique copy that would be relevant, yet relatable, to our instagram followers to encourage engagement. the next step included researching stills from the movies SYFY was running that week that compliment the ideas i had for the copy. the final step was to put it all together, primarily in Photoshop.
over three months, i not only have curated many social media posts, i also designed creative logos for upcoming programs airing on Oxygen using our brand guidelines as well as collaborated with other interns on additional projects

	the girls’ guide to growing up

the goal of this project was to design an existing text. i chose a book that is widely known amongst girls called “the girls’ guide to growing up.” there are several topics that this guide discusses including: boys, friendships, how to handle parents’ divorce and what to expect with your growing body. 
i extracted the parts that are still relevant to adults today including knowing yourself, how to deal with sexual harassment and a guide to friendship. i surrounded the existing words with old iconic paintings to update the design and reference exactly what is happening in the text.
finally, i risographed dark blue ink on pale pink cardstock and crafted a beautiful publication commenting on girlhood and womanhood.

i was given the amazing opportunity to become a graphic designer for virginia commonwealth university’s student media center in 2022, then was promoted to art director where i worked on amazing projects like the commonwealth times.

i managed and supervised a team of designers and curated layouts for the printed newspaper biweekly in addition to creating social media graphics biweekly. every week i assigned new roles to the designers to constantly stimulate our creativity with brand new ideas for each section — news, sports, spectrum, opinions and humor. brainstorming ideas for illustrations is also part of the role and then using those amazing illustrations to compliment our work. 
each year it is a tradition for the CT to publish special issues for Black History Month in February and Women’s History Month in March. i had the privilege of curating a brand new style guide for these issues from scratch, researching and using type specifically from Black type designers for Black History Month and female type designers for Women’s History Month.in addition to creating design projects for the CT, i was also responsible for other student publications organized at the Student Media Center. as art director, i organized team meetings and incorporated the editor in chief’s visions intended for their publication. i practiced organizing files for print and assured that they excel in quality, meeting their standards.

it was an absolute honor to have worked with such amazing people throughout my time at the student media center and i am so thankful to have worked on so many astonishing projects that i am incredibly proud of.

‘let her news’ is an online satirical publication founded by a ‘ziggy,’ who wishes remains anonymous (*wink wink*) (’ziggy’ as in ziggy stardust) (her mom was inspired by the song when she was coming up with names for a baby boy, whom also didn’t know she was a girl yet.) ziggy is an anonymous writer, designer, model, comedian and web designer (she is a woman of many hats !) launching on february 14th, let her news is a project that she has developed inspired by her favorite fashion and beauty blogs such as “Cosmopolitan” and “Refinery29.”
ziggy is the main writer for every published article and lead designer for all of the design components including web, social media and weekly email campaigns. web design, writing, beauty, comedy and marketing is her forte and hopes to pursue them further. lhn is a brand that is a commentary on anonymity, online spaces and aliases. she releases a new article every week that is relatable and entertaining to her readers where she discusses current trends to appeal to a younger audience.
sharing similarities in advice columns in other publications, ziggy creates a space in let her news where people can be comfortable interacting with her content due to being anonymous. the voice she has created in her writing mimics a casual text conversation with a close friend; creating a relaxed, friendly environment. her tone is cool and casual.&#38;nbsp;

d+p hosted a wedding celebrating their love during the halloween season and trusted me with designing a custom invitation inspired by their gothic themed ceremony located in richmond, virginia.
i took inspiration from the architectural elements of the venue chosen for the event which included romantic detailing on the main ceiling. this specific component led me to incorporate an original illustration of the architecture design as the primary patterned border for the piece, complimented by an original vector outline of a bat. i customized typeset the vintage type and script typography then conducted pre-press operations.
the invite was printed with gold foil (front) and silver foil (back) on silky amethyst colored cardstock.

field marks is a newly established tattoo studio in baltimore, maryland.
their branding prioritizes detailed surreal illustrations and textures, which influenced my objective to intersect hand-made elements along with digital design. field marks’ emphasis on authentic illustration motivated the composition for the social media assets i produced as well as referencing print aspects for their logo.

lucky girl syndrome

lucky girl syndrome is an emo, punk midwest band that represents a feminine grunge aesthetic which adheres to their name.
i played with their identity, encompassing type that best represents their style, and created a unique logo and poster design including attributes from the cover art for their album “It’s Just Too Easy.”
